Frequently asked questions

How is the Mental Health First Responders at Work Programme (MHFR@Work) different from PFA and MHFA?

MHFR@Work is tailored for workplaces, focusing on employees, HR professionals, and managers, addressing office-specific dynamics and stressors. Unlike PFA (trauma-focused) and MHFA (community-based), MHFR@Work is culturally sensitive to the Asian workplace context, empowering employees with practical tools for their environments.

Why is  MHFR@Work only 8 hours compared to MHFA’s 12–16 hours?

The MHFR@Work programme is specifically designed for working professionals, focusing on delivering essential mental health first response skills in a concise, 8-hour format. This approach respects the demands of busy schedules while ensuring the training remains impactful and comprehensive.

Unlike other programs that may span 12–16 hours, MHFR@Work prioritises workplace-specific scenarios and skills, cutting down on general content that might not directly apply to professional settings. The content has been meticulously crafted to provide maximum relevance and value without compromising on quality or effectiveness.

By concentrating on key frameworks, practical tools, and culturally sensitive approaches tailored for the Asian workplace, the MHFR@Work program achieves a balance between depth and efficiency, making it both time-effective and impactful for participants.

Are participants assessed during the course?

Yes, participants are assessed throughout the course to measure their progress and understanding. Each participant completes a pre- and post-assessment, which helps evaluate improvements in their knowledge and skills. In addition, trainers conduct a cohort-based assessment, providing a qualitative report to the organisation that outlines the overall performance and learning outcomes of the group.

 Is a refresher course necessary?

A refresher is recommended every 2 years to maintain skills and confidence.

What certification will participants receive?

Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance from ThoughtFull, acknowledging their successful completion of the MHFR@Work programme. This certificate reflects their participation in a course designed to equip them with practical skills and frameworks to respond effectively to mental health situations in the workplace.

Each participant undergoes pre- and post-assessments to measure their progress, and organisations receive a cohort-based performance report summarising key outcomes from the training.

The program has been meticulously developed and reviewed by a multidisciplinary team of experts from across Asia, ensuring its relevance and applicability to diverse workplace settings. It is currently undergoing validation efforts for recognition and affirmation, underscoring ThoughtFull’s commitment to providing high-quality, impactful training.
